TLILIC0023 – Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonnes)

Our C6 course teaches you safely and confidently plan, prepare, operate and shut down a slewing mobile crane with a capacity of up to 60 tonnes.
  • Prerequisite: No prerequisite for this course
  • Duration: 5 days
  • Assessment: Theory and Practical
  • Qualification: TLILIC0023 Licence to operate a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonnes)

Our C6 course details the understanding of:

  • Safe operation of a slewing crane up to 60 tonnes, including luffing, slewing, and hoisting loads.
  • Interpreting lift plans, load charts, and technical documentation to determine appropriate crane configuration
  • Conducting pre-start and post-operational checks, setting up and stabilising the crane, calculating ground pressures, determining safe positioning and performing complex lifting, slewing, and luffing manoeuvres.
  • Understanding and using manufacturer specifications and load charts to determine crane capacity and configuration.
  • Applying mathematical procedures to estimate loads and determine safe working capacities.
  • Properly positioning the crane, deploying outriggers, and ensuring the ground is stable to support the rated load.
  • Ensuring lifts remain within the crane’s derated Working Load Limit (WLL) and continuously monitoring crane movements.
  • Identifying site hazards, implementing safety measures and emergency procedures, and complying with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
  • Using, interpreting, and coordinating with doggers and/or riggers through standardised whistle signals/ hand signals and two-way radios
  • Securing the crane, stowing equipment, and packing up the boom and lifting gear following specific, safe site procedures.
Assessment and Licensing
  • Assessments: Includes written theory, calculation tests, and practical hands-on tests.
  • Licence: Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0023 and a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA) email for your SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence.
    • Once you receive your NSA, you have 60 days to obtain your SafeWork NSW Licence.
  • Requirements: Must be 18+ years old, have adequate English literacy/numeracy, and have appropriate PPE (hard hat, steel cap boots, hi-vis).
