Our Basic Scaffolding course details the understanding of:
-
Accessing and reading basic scaffold plans, drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
-
Identifying hazards (such as ground stability or nearby powerlines) and applying Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
-
Using standard site hand signals, ropes, and communication channels to coordinate with ground crews.
-
Identifying and selecting components for modular, prefabricated, mobile, frame, and bracket scaffolds.
-
Checking scaffolding equipment for defects like cracks, rust, and/or structural deformities before assembly.
-
Calculating Working Load Limits (WLL),understanding load capabilities, and determining dead weight pressures on ground foundations.
-
Safely erecting basic scaffolding types, including modular or prefabricated designs, birdcage scaffolds, and trestles.
-
Installing lightweight material hoists (up to 500 kg maximum load capacity), ropes, and gin wheels.
-
Correctly installing static lines, safety nets, guard rails, and proper access/egress platforms.
-
Performing structural inspections during use and maintaining a clear written scaffold inspection log.
-
Disassembling scaffolding systems sequentially to ensure structural stability remains intact throughout the process.
-
Finalising mandatory safety paperwork, completing handover certificates, and applying active scaffold safety tags.
Assessment and Licensing
- Assessments: Includes written theory, calculation tests, and practical hands-on tests.
- Licence: Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCCLSF2001 and a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA) email for your SafeWork NSW High Risk Work Licence.
- Once you receive your NSA, you have 60 days to obtain your SafeWork NSW Licence.
- Requirements: Must be 18+ years old, have adequate English literacy/numeracy, and have appropriate PPE (hard hat, steel cap boots, hi-vis).
